Injuries v. Deaths

Loooking at this pie chart we can see that ~80% of people affected from mass shootings were injured in some capacity. The other ~20% affected from the mass shootings were killed.

Deaths + Injuries per Year

There are a few things we can take away from this bar chart. This first is that from 2018-2021, the number of people affected by mass shootings has been rising steadily (Not all 2022 data was included in the data set which explains the lower numbers). Surprisingly, even during the COVID-19 pandemic, people were still affected by mass shootings at an increased rate from the previous year. The next takeaway is that 2021 had the most people injured and killed over the last 5 years.

Deaths + Injuries per Month

The trends in this graph align pretty similarly with the trends in the cases per month graph, except for one difference. Despite June having the second most injuries from mass shootings, it has one of the lowest death totals compared to other months.
